Name: Angie Liefer
Family connections? My son Jacob (18) is a black belt, and my twins (12) are brown belts
How long have you been a black belt? Since 2021
How long have you been practicing martial arts? Since 2016
Career or activities outside of the dojang: I am a licensed therapist and crisis counselor with Barnes Hospital Emergency Department
What inspired you to start martial arts? I wanted an activity that I would be able to do with my sons. After I started, I realized that I loved it and am really interested in self defense and teaching other girls and women self-defense. I love the confidence I have found and the time I get to spend with my boys.
What do you think is the most important part of practicing martial arts? Piasa Martial Arts is truly a family place. My twins have literally grown up here, first watching their brother take classes and then taking classes on their own and with me. Once you are a member of PMA you are always part of the family. Even my oldest, who is away at college, is welcome here anytime. We support each other and take care of each other. I feel better knowing that my sons and I always have a place to belong.
